New page

Thank you for your interest in Rifidi Edge Server. I have some minimal instructions on this wiki page on how to download the beta version of the edge server and the workbench (which is the client utility for the server), how to run them both, and how to connect to a reader and begin reading tags from it. In addition, I have included a "sample application" that exemplifies a custom application that could run on top of our server. I have instructions on using that as well. There will be more complete documentation coming in the next two weeks on our wiki.

We look forward to our 1.0 release on October 23. Please let us know any suggestions or questions that you have.

:our wiki with instructions. This will be improving alot over the next two weeks
:We now have an edge server section. You can begin to ask questions there.

==Run the edge server & workbench==
* Unzip the server. Double click the exe file.
* Unzip the workbench. Double click the exe file.

==Use workbench==
* See the wiki documentation [[Workbench_User's_Guide#Example_Use_of_the_Edge_Server]]

=Instructions for the Acme Demo=

The following are some basic instructions on how to run the Acme demo. I will have some more detailed instructions on the wiki soon that explain the scenario in a bit more detail

==Run emulator and configure it==
* Download the emulator configuration file: http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/1513839/pramari/acme-emulator-config.rfts
* Download the Acme tags file: http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/1513839/pramari/acme-tags.txt
* Download, install, and run emulator. Select file->open IDE configuration. Select the acme-emulator-config.rtfs file. Start the reader in emulator

==Start the reader==
* The edge server distribution ships with a default reader that will connect to an Alien reader at 127.0.0.1:20000. This is also the default IP/port of the reader in the emulator configuration file.
* Simply rightclick on the session in workbench and select start session

==Run the acme demo==
* In the edge client, open up the acme perspective (window->show perspectives->Acme)
* Click on the wrench on the right to "load the data base". Point it to the tags file that you downloaded
* click on the start button on the right to begin the acme demo.
* Switch back to emulator. The SSCC96 tag corresponds to the truck. Drag and drop it onto the antenna. Notice that the "truck has arrive" button lights up.
* Drag and drop the three GID96 tags onto the antenna. Notice the "truck full" button lights up
* Drag and drop the SGTIN tag onto the antenna. Notice that the "Incorrect Item" button lights up.
